That line is our cut-off for the exercise, not a figure from the catalogue. Eighteen houses in the index have a median under it. If you are looking for an affordable pre-owned designer bag in Mexico, the 20,000 line is mostly a bag question, because every other category sits well under it.
Bags above the line, everything else under it
Bags are the only category whose median is above 20,000. The 2,621 bags on Kove have a median of 30,300 pesos, with the lowest at 4,250 and the highest at 1,090,250. Every other category sits well under the line at the median. Shoes, 2,013 pieces, have a median of 7,900 and start at 3,250. Clothing, 909 pieces, has a median of 8,450 and starts at 2,450, the lowest figure in the whole catalogue. Accessories, 699 pieces, have a median of 6,600. Hats, 40 pieces, have a median of 7,900.

Burberry has the lowest median of any house, 5,850 across 270 pieces. Gucci is the largest house in the index, 1,293 pieces, and its median is 12,450. Dior, at 17,250, is the highest median that still clears the line. Hermès needs a caveat. Its median is 11,200, but its range runs from 3,250 to 1,090,250, the widest of any house, so the median tells you little about what a Hermès piece costs.
The houses above the line
Louis Vuitton has a median of 24,000 across 954 pieces. Bottega Veneta has a median of 21,100 across 127. Chanel has a median of 54,500 across 606 pieces, the highest of any house. None of them is out of reach at the bottom of its range. Louis Vuitton starts at 2,850, Chanel at 3,750 and Bottega Veneta at 4,050. Pieces under 20,000 exist in each house. They are just not the middle of the catalogue.
Where each house starts
Burberry and Salvatore Ferragamo share the lowest starting point at 2,450. Dior and Saint Laurent start at 2,550. Valentino starts at 2,750, Gucci and Chloé at 2,800, Louis Vuitton at 2,850, Givenchy at 2,950 and Prada at 3,000. Fendi starts at 3,050. Hermès, Céline, Loewe, Miu Miu, Jimmy Choo and Alexander McQueen all start at 3,250. Balenciaga starts at 3,650, Chanel and Christian Louboutin at 3,750, and Bottega Veneta at 4,050, the highest minimum of any house.
The bag lines that qualify
Four bag lines have a median under 20,000. The Gucci Horsebit 1955 has a median of 9,550 across 62 pieces and starts at 3,900. The Fendi 2Jours has a median of 14,750 across 11 pieces and starts at 10,100. The Gucci Soho and the Gucci Boston both have a median of 17,250, across 17 and 8 pieces. The Fendi Kan I sits exactly on the line at 20,000 across 6 pieces.
A second group has a median above 20,000 but a minimum well under it. The Gucci Marmont, the largest line at 125 pieces, has a median of 20,550 and starts at 4,050. The Gucci Dionysus starts at 4,250 against a median of 28,150. The Fendi Baguette starts at 4,750 against a median of 44,250. The Gucci Bamboo starts at 5,250, the Louis Vuitton Pochette at 5,850 and the Louis Vuitton Twist at 6,800.
A third group does not start under 20,000 at all. The lowest published Louis Vuitton OnTheGo is 33,500. The lowest Chanel Boy is 46,300 and the lowest Chanel 19 is 64,750. The Chanel Classic Flap starts at 19,450, just under the line, against a median of 95,250.
